My work for the Rundgang 2018 at the Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien I consider an accumulation of information that derives from my current working
theme the structure of human desire.
In this case, my point of departure was the pop song Not Gonna Get Us (2002) by the Russian pop duo TATU. I interpret the song as an escape of symbolic
fixity and a testimony of their very own uneasiness in civilization. For me, the lyrics of the song can be read as a refusal of sexual normativity but at the same
time allude to the ambiguity of TATU as a pop music phenomenon with their many contradictory statements about their take on sexuality
(are we just not getting them?).
